Volvo XC90 2016 has been Officially Launched in Thailand

BANGKOKVolvo XC90 2016 has finally hit the shores of Thailand on 9th March blessing Thai locals with the most luxurious SUV of its segment. The Volvo fans were anticipating the second generation flagship SUV to hit the showrooms since it was first unveiled at the Bangkok Motor Expo last year. Volvo Car Thailand now has a hope for the current financial year with the all-new Volvo XC90 despite the Volvo's sluggish performance over the past few years.

The company's first eco-friendly SUV for the Thai market, the second-generation SUV in D5 diesel and T8 plug-in hybrid platforms has made its way to challenge the likes of BMW X5 and Mercedes-Benz GLE. The class-leading “Twin Engine” model gets a 2.0-litre, four cylinders engine paired with an eight-speed automatic transmission. While the D5 diesel variant with the diesel-turbo motor is capable of producing the maximum power of 225 hp along with the peak torque of 480 Nm, Volvo XC90's hybrid powertrain offers an unmatched output of 407 hp. T8 petrol-powered hybrid powertrain comprises of petrol-powered T8 combined with the turbo, electric and supercharging. With the new Drive-E powertrains, the new generation Volvo SUV offers an exciting driveability as well as world-class fuel efficiency and less CO2 emissions of just 60g/km. The lightweight aluminum engine ensures a smooth yet powerful ride, which can sprint from naught to 100 kmph in merely 6.4 seconds.

Volvo XC90 2016 is the first ever SUV to be built on the Scalable Product Architecture (SPA) and comprises of almost 90% new components. Earlier, we had only Volkswagen Group's MQB platform architecture designed for transverse-engine FWD, but now the Swedish automaker has also taken the similar undertaking in developing the SPA in-house, which offers a great flexibility to the vehicle. Volvo has always been known for the luxury it offers in its vehicles and owing to the SPA, the new seven-seater is loaded with all the latest connected car technologies, class-leading safety features along with the splendid interior space.

The XC90 carries the Volvo badge, so the world-class safety is standard on the SUV. The new technologies and active features of Run-Off road protection, as well as Brake at Intersection systems, will take the brand a step closer to the Volvo's 2020 vision that no one will be harmed in a new Volvo car by 2020.

Prior to the launch of all-new Volvo XC90 in Thailand, the brand was in the limelight at the Geneva Motor Show 2016 where Volvo has unveiled the range-topping supremely luxurious SUV- XC90 Excellence along with the most elegant and luxurious saloon S90. The top Excellence Variant is also powered by the same plug-in Hybrid powerplant but ditches the last row making it the range-topping 4-seater SUV.

To stand out from its German rivals, D5 diesel variant is up for a grab at THB 4.89 million while the T8 powered Volvo XC90 price is kept around THB 5.39 million in Momentum trim and THB 5.99 million in Inscription trim.

With the Volvo-by-Volvo strategy, the award-winning XC90 is a perfect blend of beautiful interior styling, wold-best ergonomics and elegant as well as supreme comfort which is enough to outgrow the estimated sales of the first environment-friendly model of the brand.
