Volvo V40 Cross Country Now Gets a New D4 Diesel Powertrain
BANGKOK: Volvo V40 Cross Country is back with a new diesel powertrain, which is up for grab at a price tag of THB 2.099 million. It will compete against the German giants, Mercedes-Benz and BMW with their respective productions Mercedes-Benz GLA and BMW X1 in Thailand. Instead of finding new alternatives for the competitors like Mercedes-Benz A-Class and BMW 1 Series, Volvo has simply adopted the strategy to beef up normal cars to come up with the machines like V40 cross country, S60 cross country and XC70. Volvo XC90 was also one of the Volvo drives to be launched in Thailand with the diesel powertrain and an eight-speed automatic transmission. Volvo V40 Cross country has gained more efficient D4-2.0-litre twin-turbo diesel powertrain capable of producing the impressive power of 190 hp at 3500-4000 rpm along with the peak torque of 400 Nm across the rev range.
Volvo Cars (Thailand) has introduced a new D4 diesel mill along with the eight-speed automatic transmission in the V40 Cross Country to improve the fuel economy as well as less carbon dioxide emissions claiming to return the combined mileage of 20 kmpl and can sprint from naught to 100 kmph in an impressive 7.7 seconds. To further improve the fuel efficiency, the D4 engine is also equipped with Volvo's CO2-reducing Start/Stop and engine brake energy regeneration technology.
Just like its searing performance, this Volvo Crossover is an interesting beast to look at. V40 Crossover is a spiked version of its previous model with an aggressive black bumper on both the ends, sporty roof rails to enhance its aggressiveness and sportiness with a “Cross Country” labelled on its rear bumper. The roof of the crossover is also fitted with the roof-bars to hook up the kayaks, bikes, skis or anything when you head out for camping. The highlight of this drive is newly raised ground clearance along with additional plastic skid plates making it a perfect off-roader. This new Volvo Crossover is built on the same platform Compact Modular Architecture (CMA)as its senior Volvo XC40 which is expected to be released in 2018.
Perfect for a cross country ride and off-roading V40 CC has scored the highest crash ratings in the IIHS crash test and is also packed with a complete suite of safety tech including City Safety automatic braking up to 50 kmph, Dynamic Stability and Traction control, ABS with ready alert brakes, Pedestrian Airbag system and several latest features giving a sense of peaceful ride albeit on a cross-country tour.
Earlier this month, the key rival of Volvo, BMW Thailand has announced the on-road price of its all-new X1 model and now following the path, Volvo Thailand has set the V40 Cross Country price at around 2.099 million baht.
