Tesla Motors Recently Launched New Update Of Autopilot System
BANGKOK: Tesla Motors has recently launched a new autopilot software update for its Model S lineup, which will boost the driver's confidence behind the wheel. With this new software upgrade, Tesla Model S will be the first advanced full generalised autonomous electric car.
Earlier launched in October, the electric car manufacturer's Autopilot system offered only partial autonomy, but the upgradation of the software to 7.0 version will make the both new ones and already purchased Tesla electric, a fully autonomous and driveless car. It will stand tall against all the major brands like Mercedes-Benz and Google who have already started working on automobiles with autonomous driving features.
This new software can be downloaded in new Model S sedans or can be upgraded in already purchased Tesla Model S overnight without leaving home. The inclusion of this autopilot software is almost similar to Subaru VIZIV 2 which allows cars to perform various functions like change lanes, stay within the range of their own lane, park themselves and also make a set of protocols based on driver's habits.
The brand's CEO, Elon Musk in an interview says, ”This new updated software will definitely reduce the driver's stress in a traffic area and regarding the most difficult and dangerous issues while travelling. But the driver is still liable of controlling the car and it is advisable for drivers to keep the steering wheel in their control all the while when the autopilot mode is on. Drivers need to be ready to take control of the steering wheel anytime.” The future possibility of this system of Tesla Motors can also be used by the owners to summon the car to pick them up.
Some constraints and limitations have been put on the new update of the Autopilot system to reduce the chances of any disaster. These constraints include the speed limitation when the autopilot system is activated, the car cannot exceed the speed limit and the system will be restricted to go beyond the speed limit.
The autonomous system of Tesla Sedan also includes features like Autosteer, which makes the car stay in one lane and uses Traffic-Aware Cruise Control to limit the car's speed. It also uses other safety features like Speed assist, adaptive cruise, Blind Spot Detection and collision warning.
