Porsche 718 Boxster and Cayman - New Engines & New Names

BANGKOK: Porsche, the German automobile marque has announced that its Boxster and Porsche Cayman are going to adopt new names - Porsche 718 Boxster and 718 Cayman, and newly developed four-cylinder turbocharged power units during the year 2016.

Now, these models will be designated with their new name tags which are the references of the 1950s. These cars are considered as the successor of 550 Spyder which has further utilized four-cylinder turbocharged engine.

For now, Porsche is not all ready to reveal Boxster and Cayman technical specifications. But on the basis of our expectations, the entry-level models by Porsche will be powered with 2.0-litres flat-four tuned engine that contributes in generating 240 hp of power output. Alongside, dual-clutch automatic transmission effectually enhances the drive’s performance.

Talking about the S models, the drives are expected to be mechanized with 2.5-litre flat-four cylinder engine giving 300 hp of power output, whereas its GTS versions will be capable of developing 370 hp of power output.

All of these drives will further be equipped with direct fuel injection and a turbocharger, which definitely make 718 considerably more fuel-economical and powerful. All the engine variants including 2.0-litre, 2.3-litre and 2.5-litre are going to present the new level of performance along with higher fuel efficiency.

718 Cayman and 718 Boxster is expected to introduce in the next March at the Geneva Motor Show. Well, there is also a possibility in the increment of costs for both of these drives.
