Motor Expo 2015- Brand War | Toyota Takes on Isuzu
BANGKOK: The thrilling and one of the most exciting exhibition of automobiles around the world is currently underway in Thailand. With over 40 automotive brands showcasing their exhilarating engineering productions, the motor show is witnessing terrific response from the Thai. The doors for the auto event went wide from 1st December 2015 and during the course of nine days it has a registered a total of 23,893 bookings (include car and motorcycle bookings).
Out of the total 23,893 bookings, a total of 20,708 cars have been booked till now. Toyota attains the first place in terms of car bookings, which isn't a surprising stat. It has gone wild with the booking numbers and grabbed a total of 3,306 car bookings in just a matter of nine days. Whereas, Isuzu follows it with considerable booking number of 2,936 cars.
Both the camps, Toyota and Isuzu have performed brilliantly till now and have outclassed other popular brands like Honda, Mitsubishi, Mazda, Ford, Chevrolet, Nissan, Suzuki and more. Both the booths at the motor show have cars from different segments on display, which are not only gracing the grand auto show but also available for grab.
Talking about the SUV segment, the world's leading auto company, Toyota has a giant on wheels called Fortuner, which takes on the other camp's SUV named Isuzu MU-X.
On one side, there is a big SUV, Fortuner that underpins a 2.8-litre diesel engine capable of producing a max power of 177 PS and a peak torque of 420 Nm. This is the range topping variant in the series of SUV vehicles that is offered with 6-speed automatic as well as manual transmission system. Apart from this, there are two different engine choices for the customers to relish, one is 2.4-litre diesel engine and a 2.7-litre petrol power mill.
On the other side of the court is the tough and strong MU-X underpinning 3.0-litres four-cylinder diesel engine that can bang out a max power of 177 hp and a peak torque of 380 Nm. In accordance with a five-speed REV Tronic automatic gearbox, it can produce unbelievable performance figures.
Moving on to the pick-up segment, both the auto brands go head to head with their respective alluring productions. Toyota showcases its popular and dynamic pick-up, Hilux Revo TRD concept that carries a versatile personality with low profile wheels, new refreshed grille, side skirts of same body color, extended rear bumper and LED fog lamps. Whereas, the D-Max sports a futuristic design that provides a tough and sporty look to the pick-up.
Mechanically, D-max features a brand new 1.9-litres DDI Bluepower diesel engine that can churn out a max power of 150 hp and a peak torque of 350 Nm, while working in tandem with a six-speed manual transmission system. On the other hand, Toyota Revo Hilux is on offer with two engine choices, 2.4-litres and 2.8-litres. The former carries the capability to generate 160 hp and 400 Nm torque while the bigger engine is good enough for 177 hp power and 450 Nm torque.
