MG New Crossover GS Showcased at 2016 Bangkok Motor Show

BANGKOK: 2016 Bangkok Motor Show is slowly becoming the biggest auto hub of all times. With creations like Chevrolet Colorado (launched along with Trailblazer at 2016 BMS), Subaru Forester, Honda Civic, Mercedes-Benz AMG and various other scheduled for the show, it is bound to measure highest footfall ever. In the midst of all these bulk sellers, you'll also find the Chinese invaded British auto brand MG trying to grab its share of limelight.

This year MG BMS booth houses a new crossover that goes by the name GS. A competitor to likes of Honda CR-V and Mazda CX-5, MG GS holds certain advantages over both, enabling it to give CR-V and CX-5 a run for their money. Below are mentioned two major points that made us right the above statement -

• First of all, MS GS is the most affordable vehicle present in the Thai crossover fleet. It has a starting price of 1.21 million bath
• Secondly, out of all the three (BR-V, CX-5 and GS), only GS houses a turbo engine, thus generating the highest power output

The only drawback we fell lies with MG is its not so loyal consumer base. Also, being a Chinese auto brand building a strong customers base becomes an up-hill task.

Some tech revision -

MG GS Engine Specs - It houses a 2.0L engine under its well-crafted hood. The said mill produces a maximum power output of 218 PS at 5300 rpm along with a peak torque of 350 Nm at 2500-4000 rpm.

Dimension of MG GS - GS dimension sheet reads as 4500 mmX 1855 mm X 1675 mm (L XW X H). Its 2650 mm long wheelbase ensures ample legroom for the occupants.

GS Variants - For the Thai market MG line-up includes two GS trims. One is a 2WD TD and other is a 4WD TX. Apart from the visible drivetrain distinction, they have a different exterior kit on offer.

Safety Features - MG has stuffed GS with safety equipment like ABS with EBD, Traction Control, Hill-Start Assist System, Front and Side airbag and ISOFIX.

Price Chart - The two-wheel drive TD variant is priced at 1.21 million bath. The four-wheel drive TX variant, on the other hand, costs .10 million bath more than the base trim.
