MG GS Compact SUV Expected to Launch On February 17th in Thailand
BANGKOK: After unveiling a teaser image ahead of its debut at the London Motor Show in May, MG GS, compact SUV is expected to hit the roads of Thailand on February 17th or near around. The Concept of MG GS was first unveiled at the Shanghai Motor Show in 2013 and the production version was then launched in China last year. MG Motor under SAIC Motor Company was among the prominent brands across the globe to showcase their innovations at the Thailand Motor Expo last year and revealed its two models namely: MG5 and MG CS luring a large section of the crowd at its booth.
Designed by the Shanghai and Longbridge under the wing of MG Global Design Director, Anthony Williams retained the stylings of the Chinese-spec model in its small and thin grille sporting the MG's signature octagonal Morris Insignia, trapezoidal headlamps, dual-tone bumpers and alloys while its rear end got twin tailpipes along with angular taillights. The 5 seater Compact SUV comes in a dimension of 4500 mm X 1855 mm X 1699 mm (L x W x H) with a wheelbase of 2650 mm weighing about 1,542 kg.
With a wheelbase of 2650 mm which makes it slightly longer than Volkswagen Tiguan, the inside of MG GS doesn't look cluttered and the interior features an 8.0-inch infotainment touchscreen with GPS navigation.
Chinese-owned British company operates in Thailand in a plant where MG6 sedan and MG3 hatchback are manufactured. UK-bound Compact SUV will arrive in Thailand with an all-new 2.0-litre TGI Direct injection with turbocharged petrol mill offering the peak power of 217 bhp at 5000-5300 rpm along with the maximum torque of 435 Nm at 2500-4000 rpm. The power is transferred to all the four wheels via automatic transmission paired with Dual Clutch.
While the MG GS price ranges from THB 878551.53 to THB 988370.47MG GS price in Thailand is still not clear.
The British auto brand has not only marked its name in the country but also has impressed its prestigious customers by inaugurating a MG Driving Experience Centre, a training centre in Thailand with the aim to promote safe driving. The centre is free of cost for the desirable ones who wish to enjoy the facilities offered by the brand.
