Mazda CX-4- Name Confirmed, Spied Under Camouflage
BANGKOK: Based on the exclusive Mazda Koeru concept, the new crossover from the fleet of Mazda vehicles will carry a moniker “CX-4”. The spy photographers have managed to snap an angle showing the moniker, “CX-4” on the car’s rear end. Although, the car is covered under the camouflage cover but it is pretty evident that the moniker is “CX-4”. Earlier, the likely name to be adhered with this crossover was either CX-6 or CX-4. But, the chances of the latter one were quite high as the spy shots leaked earlier showed it to be smaller than the existing CX-5.
With the flourishing crossover market, the brands are keen on building crossovers and no wonder Mazda is one of the leading brands in this league. The launch of Mazda CX-3 in Thailand is one such example. Since then, the love, admiration and bookings it has acquired is unbeatable. The segment is gaining momentum and so is Mazda as it plans to sell 10% more vehicles this year.
Although, the CX-4 is due for a China launch at the Beijing Motor Show in April as of now but it would certainly head towards the Thai turf by the next year. Its exterior doesn’t surprize you much as it has managed to carry over the KODO design language from its concept version quite brilliantly, all thanks to its designers and developers who have made this happen. However, the CX-4 interior doesn’t seem to inherit the futuristic styling from its concept.
Commenting on CX-4 specifications at the moment would be tough, but it is speculated to underpin a 2.0-litre petrol, 1.5 & 2.5-litre diesel engines. All the three options will be mingled to a six-speed manual or automatic transmission systems.
