Google and Ford to join hands to produce self-driving car
BANGKOK: Google and Ford are all geared up to team up and pool their full resources and knowledge to produce fully autonomous new technology car. The new business will be officially announced at Consumer Electronic Show next year on 4th January.
With the number of test driving a car of the company on the streets of California and Texas, the company would legally protect Ford from any liability concerns and the manufacturing deal between the Autocar brand and famous search engine has been developing for some time. The new business development will be like the joint venture between Baidu and BMW to develop an autonomous car.
Google is not confirming any speculation and it is quite unclear when these self-driving car will go on sale. While on the other hand, Ford Spokesman reported that they have worked with many companies on different subjects. If the company has to ever launch such cars in the market then it is required that the company produce them as a mass product. For mass production, Ford would be a better option as the company has vast experience in producing mass-market cars.
It is also reported that Ford is also working on electrified and autonomous F-series, so with these new developments, the company has certainly given a ray of hope that we might see the Ford driverless car on the roads soon.
The official announcement is due in next year and both the parties are zip-lipped about the partnership, it is still hazy that this new partnership would involve the conversion of still existing automaker brand's products into the self-driven vehicles or develop an all-new autonomous car.
