Audi Q2 Teased Once Again, Will Debut at Geneva Motor Show 2016
BANGKOK: The German giant has left another teaser image of the new Audi compact SUV, Audi Q2 and this time in real production model. The Audi teaser image is a blurry picture of the red colored Audi Q2 that is ready to take on the world. The official release for the same is scheduled at the Geneva Motor Show 2016, which starts from 1st March.
Prior to this, an image of an unknown garage was released by the brand showing the ‘Q’ moniker family cars, Audi Q7, Q5 and Q3 parked side by side leaving a vacant space for the upcoming member. The subcompact SUV will be the smallest member of the ‘Q’ family.
By looking at the teaser, it is evident now that the new Audi Q2 will sport the sweptback LED headlamps with DRLs, flat bonnet and prominent wheel arches. However, it looks pretty similar to its elder siblings in terms of design.
Instead of sharing the A1’s platform, it will be underpinning the new MQB platform that can also be seen in the Volkswagen Golf and Audi A3. In terms of mechanical specifications, it is likely to get the 1.4-litre TFSI four-cylinder turbocharged petrol engine as standard while the higher trims are expected to get the 2.0-litre TFSI & TDI engines. In terms of transmission, it will get either the six-speed manual gearbox or the DCT automatic transmission system to power the front wheels. The option of AWD quattro system will be available on the higher trims.
Once launched it will lock horns with the Mini Countryman and Mercedes GLA. Its European debut is expected to happen in the second half of 2016 followed by other parts of the world.
