Honda BR-V: A New Segment to Compete MPVs and SUVs
BANGKOK: Following the launch of Honda BR-V in Indonesia at GIIAS 2015 organized between 20th and 30th of August, it is expected to be in in Thai showrooms during the first quarter of 2016. It will be unvieled to Thai audience at Thai Motor Exp 2015 with the final tech specs, details, and features. Having recieved a maximum number of footfalls during the launch of BR-V at GIIAS 2015, it is speculated that it will recieve the same response from the Thai audience.
Budget seven-seater based on an extended version of Honda Brio family carries an appearance of crossover and features of an SUV, which make it unique from all other rival drives. Honda is now looking to increase its market share in Thai auto industry with the new Honda BR-V which is a blend of crossover and MPV. The company’s Man Maximum, Machine Minimum philosophy has helped to make space for seven people than five. This will give the BR-V an advantage over the competition.
It is anticipated that Honda BR-V will be a rage amongst those who prefer luxury, fun-filled and comfortable ride. Its High-Ground clearance gives this crossover MPV better off-roading capability. The 1.5-litre i-VTEC petrol engine churns out the power of 119 hp at 6600 rpm and peak torque of 145 Nm at 4600 rpm. The diesel variant will host a 1.5-litre i-DTEC engine which will deliver a maximum power of 99 hp and peak torque of 200 Nm.The all new BR-V is apt for off-roading too accompanied by transmission option of new 6-speed manual transmission and a continuously variable transmission (CVT).
The usage of thick chrome at the front grille expanded headlamps, roof rails, side steps and 'sporty' alloy wheels altogether give a strong stance to this new Honda drive which is yet to unveild in front of Thai audience at Thai Motor Expo 2015. With interiors as impressive as its exterior, this 7-seater big Japanese drive has all the comforting and entertainment aspects within. The dash of this drive looks inspired from that of Honda City but with a dual tone Beige and Black color scheme.
Despite of Pickups, SUVs being the rage amongst Thai people, many customers who were inclined towards them are now changing their minds and prefer waiting for the Honda BR-V. Honda is welcoming this impact in the market and presuming that it will strengthen its market position.
